When you’re working with 3D models - whether for printing, CNC, or just reviewing a design - one of the first things you want to know is: how big is this thing?

3D Lab Viewer now shows a bounding box around your models, displaying the length, width, and height of objects within the 3D space.

What It Does

The bounding box wraps your model in a rectangular outline and labels each axis with its dimension. At a glance you can see:

  • Length (X axis)
  • Width (Y axis)
  • Height (Z axis)

This is especially useful when:

  • Quoting 3D prints - you need to know if the model fits your printer’s build volume before committing to a job
  • Checking scale - sometimes files come in with the wrong units (millimeters vs inches is a classic mistake), and seeing the bounding box immediately reveals if something is off
  • Planning assembly - when combining multiple parts, knowing the envelope of each piece helps with layout

The 3D Printing Connection

Running 3D Lab Bali, we deal with this daily. A customer sends a file, and before anything else, we need to check: does this fit on our printers? Is the scale correct? The bounding box answers both questions instantly.

No more importing into a slicer just to check dimensions. Drop the file in the viewer, see the box, done.

Try It

Open viewer.3dlab.id, load a model, and toggle the bounding box to see your model’s dimensions instantly.
